Turning and Conditioning: This class focuses purely on the execution and achievement of turning skills, various leaps. Turns, turn tricks, leaps and overall fitness will be the focus of this class. Children will learn how to correctly execute these skills with correct technique as well as safely and efficiently for application in troupe and solo settings.
We use a combination of open class and exercises, ATOD Level 1 & 2 Contemporary Modern dance and Improvisational Techniques during these classes. This allows the student to develop their expressive and emotive connection to movement and music. They are able to employ their classical ballet technique in this class whilst enjoying a freedom of movement in space, time and energy that is not applied in traditional ballet classes. A ballet base is strongly advised for the correct ease and execution of modern dance movements. Children will enjoy floorwork, working in parallel, exploring abstract shapes and counterbalances with partners. They will continue refining their flexibility, strength and control from ballet and other technique classes.
Students do not need footwear for this class. They must wear tight-fitting clothing from our uniform shop or leotards and theatrical pink tights with their hair tied back so that they cannot get it caught or tangled in any way when they are doing their tricks.
